Heya, love seeing the discussion around microdosing becoming more public!

I’ve sporadically microdosed in the past. Sometimes in the hope it would help with my depression, or my energy, maybe just fix me. I’ve also done it just for fun, like if I have a day off, and I’m going on a hike, I might have 20 mcg.

I’m not sure it really did much for me, can’t say for sure one way or another, I really want to delve in Quantified Self so I can get some actual data and make an informed decision about what works and what doesn’t.

I do have a couple thoughts to add to what you’ve said:

  • I’ve found that the amount I can tolerate without feeling this mania you describe depends on my energy levels. If I’m high energy already I lower my dose, if I’m especially low energy I increase it
  • I microdosed by dissolving the tab in distilled water, and dosing with a 1ml syringe. 10ml of water for a 100mcg tab meant 1ml=10mcg, so it was quite easy to be accurate with the dose
  • 12.5mcg would have been too high for me unless I was low energy, I tended to stick to around 8mcg. If you decide to try again (and for anyone else reading this thinking of trying microdosing) I really recommend using the volumetric dosing method. Dial in the dose that work best for you for what you want out of it

As a final note I want to say that, on reflection, perhaps the way I microdosed wasn’t the best. It wasn’t very clear to me what I wanted out of it. To “just be not broken” is a very big ask of one thing, but maybe there are ways to use microdosing for creativity, spiritual work and even recreation. Perhaps going into it with that perspective next time maybe a healthier approach.
